Students with disabilities should be ensured the possibility of reaching their highest potential, as well as effective participation in school and in society.
Students with intellectual disabilities attend “inclusive” schools, and they experience various barriers when accessing their education (Reid et al., 2018). Thus, the school experiences of children and youth with intellectual disabilities, from their own perspectives, still require further research.
