Under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), simple, low-risk tests can be waived and performed with no routine regulatory oversight in physicians' offices and various other locations. Since CLIA was implemented, waived testing has steadily increased in the United States.
16 mar 2015 · As defined by CLIA, waived tests are simple tests with a low risk for an incorrect result. They include certain tests listed in the CLIA regulations, tests cleared by the FDA for home use, and tests approved for waiver by the FDA using the CLIA criteria.
