This is a beautiful classic Lionhead German WWII Army Officers sword, made by the somewhat rare firm of Clemen & Jung Waffenfabrik, of Solingen, Germany, complete with its original scabbard and a very nice leather and bullion troddel "sword knot".
A great looking sword! The 29.5 inch blade on this one is in nice shape retaining its' matte finish. it has a solid fit and perfect tip! The stamped Clemen & Jung Solingen maker mark is the 1st example I've seen in a NCO. The blade rates Exc++. The buffer pad is lost to time.
Up until the destruction of the factory in 1944 during World War II: CLEMEN & JUNG produced and manufactured restraint systems, sabers, rapiers, daggers and swords. After the Second World War ended, CLEMEN & JUNG rebuilt their factory, specializing in the manufacture of high quality restraint systems.
Clemen & Jung is indeed a Solingen-based sword maker. The company was, according to their webpage http://clejuso.com/ , founded in 1860. They are still around, but according to the same page, they haven't been in the sword business since WWII.
