30 wrz 2024 · This part describes policies and procedures for applying the Cost Accounting Standards Board (CASB) rules and regulations ( 48 CFR Chapter 99) to negotiated contracts and subcontracts. This part does not apply to sealed bid contracts or to any contract with a small business concern (see 48 CFR 9903.201-1(b) for these and other exemptions).
FAR Part 30, 41 U.S.C. chapter 15, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), requires certain contractors and subcontractors to comply with CAS and to disclose in writing and follow consistently their cost accounting practices. CAS consists of nineteen standards numbered 401 to 420 (CAS 419 is reserved).
Cost Accounting Standards (popularly known as CAS) are a set of 19 standards and rules promulgated by the United States Government for use in determining costs on negotiated procurements. CAS differs from the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) in that FAR applies to substantially all contractors, whereas CAS applied primarily to the larger ones.

To meet the objective of general purpose financial reporting, the Board may sometimes specify requirements that depart from aspects of the Conceptual Framework. If the Board does so, it will explain the departure in the Basis for Conclusions on that Standard.
