The flags of the Confederate States of America have a history of three successive designs during the American Civil War. The flags were known as the "Stars and Bars", used from 1861 to 1863; the "Stainless Banner", used from 1863 to 1865; and the "Blood-Stained Banner", used in 1865 shortly before the Confederacy 's dissolution.
Weapons Collection. The Civil War was fought as weaponry and tactics were evolving. Rifled cannon and rifled muskets, capable of sending their deadly projectiles farther and faster while inflicting maximum damage, were improvements over smoothbore arms.
During the Civil War, some of the units from Louisiana and Texas adopted the Bonnie Blue flag as their official banner of the Confederacy. A flag with a blue field and a single white star was used by the Louisiana Florida Parishes when they formed the Republic of West Florida in 1810.
