The City of Rice has adopted the Minnesota State Building Code and will apply the requirements of the latest version of this code. No building, structure or premise shall hereafter be used, moved, relocated or occupied and no building permit shall be granted that does not conform to these requirements.

All construction projects in Rice County's unincorporated areas require a building permit. Find building permit fact sheets in the Required Information documents section below. Permits are also required for demolition of existing structures. All permits must be applied for online.
