Cidra is home of "La Paloma Sabanera" (Patagioenas inornata wetmorei), the only bird in Puerto Rico with blue eyes. This pigeon is endemic to Puerto Rico. Its original geographical distribution included the valleys and low mountains of the western region, from Añasco to Morovis.

Cidra barrio-pueblo is a barrio and the administrative center (seat) of Cidra, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 1,064. [1][4][5][6] As was customary in Spain, in Puerto Rico, the municipality has a barrio called pueblo which contains a central plaza, the municipal buildings (city hall), and a Catholic church.
Geography. Cidra is located at the top of a hill in the eastern part of the Cordillera Central. It is bordered by the municipalities of Aguas Buenas, Caguas, Cayey, Aibonito, and Comerío.
