Signs of definitive chronic pancreatitis are parenchymal or intraductal calcifications, pancreatic fibrosis, exocrine and endocrine pancreatic insufficiency resulting in malabsorption and diabetes, pain, and an increased risk of pancreatic cancer. Quality of life (QOL) and life expectancy are also reduced.
28 mar 2022 · PDAC seems to be uncommon in patients with autoimmune pancreatitis, with 8 reported cases in 358 patients with autoimmune pancreatitis across 4 studies. Discussion: There is an increased risk of PDAC in patients with CP, and incidence rates increase with CP disease duration.
This report defines the diagnostic criteria useful in the assessment of patients with suspected and established chronic pancreatitis. All current diagnostic procedures are reviewed and evidence based statements are provided about their utility and limitations.
Results: Strong consensus and agreement were obtained for the following statements: Alcohol, smoking, and certain genetic alterations are risk factors for CP. Past history, family history, onset of symptoms, and life-style factors including alcohol intake and smoking history should be determined.
