16 lut 2023 · Cho Dan Bo and the first dan (The 1st Degree Black Belt) The Cho Dan Bo rank, the first level of black belt in the Tang Soo Do system, also represents mastery of the basic techniques and readiness to begin advanced training, as does the first Dan rank, the second level of black belt.
Blue Belt (Cho Dan Bo) must prepare mind and body for the final step needed to attain the Black Belt (Dan). Black Belt Holders (Yu Dan Ja) Black signifies Mastery, Calmness, Dignity, and Sincerity. The Black Belt represents the final stage of one life cycle and the beginning of the next.
Tang Soo Do Cho Dan Bo: Dark Blue represents maturity, respect and honor. Our dark blue belt is given to the Cho Dan Bo (Black Belt candidate). He/She must now prepare mind and body for the final step needed to attain Black Belt.

The nim suffix in Korean means kinda “honourable”. So you add it to titles when referring to someone else of that title to show respect. I am a sabum, this is my friend John sabumnim. Cho dan bo as I understand it means “1st Dan provisional”, so “Dan bo nim” would mean “honourable provisional Dan holder”. Hope that helps.
