As you traverse the pitch-black maze to Brawley, gym trainers will approach you from any angle, hidden away in their own personal hallway. As you beat each trainer in battle, the lights shine a little brighter, which give a sense of accomplishment and progression in a wonderfully designed gym puzzle.
You don't find it annoying to take the 4 slow elevators in Fantina's gym, or solve the great, but incredibly tedious puzzle in Veilstone, or have to use all the platforms in Byron's gym? In my opinion, the only puzzle that's bearable to redo over and over again is Crasher Wake's gym puzzle, at least if you know what you are doing.
This is an interesting list! I don’t remember enough about older games, but I do want to make the point that in BDSP you can cheese your way to Candace really easily and don’t have to complete her puzzle.
