T-Mobile US + Google Maps = perfect combo for China. I use that unlimited international data and texting like crazy. The free app, OsmAnd uses the OpenStreetMap data-set (basically, the open editing features of Wikipedia but for streetmaps). The offline maps for China are a 190MB download.
