  1. Submissions. We welcome submissions of previously unpublished poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. By “unpublished,” we mean work that has not appeared in another journal or in any book, chapbook, anthology, or online. We accept submissions of poetry and fiction from October 1 to June 15.

  5. On average, our reviews run between 600 and 800 words and our interviews run between 1,200 and 1,500 words. Book Lists. We love book lists that bring attention to significant and underappreciated books around themes that help readers learn about our world in different ways.

  6. Chicago Review publishes a variety of genres of nonfiction, both online and in print. We publish reviews of varying lengths: from notes (500–1000 words) to regular book reviews (1200–1800 words) to review essays (2000–5000 words).
