15 mar 2023 · I am currently working on my dads 1994 3/4 ton chevy with a manual transmission. It has a 454 TBI crate motor in it. The issue I am trying to solve is a very high idle.
17 sie 2020 · I'm guessing my issue is more with the intake rather than the exhaust. A few thoughts I've had is that the air filter is clogged and isn't allowing the engine to breathe enough, or maybe the fuel pressure regulator isn't getting enough fuel to the engine (not sure on that one though.)
11 sty 2024 · I disconnected the Idle control solenoid, started the truck, ran the engine at around 1200 rpm for about 2 minutes, and it actually idled at a low rpm with no input from me until the engine warmed up to operating temp then it would no longer idle without surging or throttle input.
12 mar 2015 · Factory fuel pump is only reliably good to maybe 15 psi, though. The only other trouble spot I can think of is that the throttle shaft bushings tend to wear out, especially on manual transmission vehicles. This will result in weird idle issues and a sticky throttle if it gets bad enough.
9 lut 2011 · I don't remember what year your eng/TBI is, but I would check the fuel pressure. The fp regulator is in your TBI but is easy to repair. You can seafoam your engine right away. Having replaced the cam won't have any affect on seafoaming it now.
22 paź 2013 · Do I rebuild my current motor in my 88 r20 350 tbi or go to crate motor? This is my daily driver so not wanting anything to extreme. rebuild. tons cheaper if YOU do it.
A carb is easy to do especially with a manual transmission. You just need a return style regulator to use your in tank pump. A carburetor can get the same fuel economy and same cold start driveability as fuel injection with proper tuning.
