I don't think the Chef feat is at all bad, and it is actually pretty decent. It's a half ability score increase, grants additional healing every short rest when the creature spends hit die (pairs well with the bard's song of rest), and you get some free temp HP every time you long rest, and the temp HP from the treats lasts until it is lost or ...
