Offering bones at the chaos altar in the Chaos Temple, located in level 38 Wilderness, is the most efficient way to train Prayer, and should be used whenever possible. The altar grants 350% experience per bone with an additional 50% chance that the bone offered at the altar will not be consumed.

Fastest Prayer Experience: Levels 1+ - Chaos Altar: The chaos altar is a dangerous activity for hardcore accounts. Death will resulting in the loss of hardcore status. As for regular Ironman this becomes the best source of pray xp in the game.
I'm currently picking up big bones at the bone yard and walking to chaos altar. 2 inventories and about 10 deaths from ents/skeletons has net me 22 prayer. I seem to take nearly 20 minutes for an inventory.
Go to bank and get a burning amulet to the lava maze and come back(avoid the crazy archeologist). When burying and attacked by a pker, if you cannot log out before being attacked then throw on the best defence prayer you have and overhead prayer and bury as many bones as you can. Hope that helps!
Notable examples include the Ardougne cloak 1 which gives you unlimited teleport close to an altar to restore your Prayer, and from where you can run east to a fairy ring or west to a spirit tree. It also gives access to the Ardougne area early in the game, which is very useful.
