Shelden accepted a job offer last week to become the chief of staff for U.S. Congressman Tim Johnson (R-Urbana) after 13 years in office.

The County Board Tuesday unanimously approved the Republican's appointment in a brief 30-minute meeting. It comes eight days after County GOP Precinct Committee-men chose him for the job.
Gordy Hulten has served as Champaign County Clerk since 2011, and is now a candidate for the new office of Champaign County Executive. As County Executive, Gordy will lead County government to improve services and responsiveness for all Champaign County residents, while increasing efficiencies and aggressively seeking to reduce costs.
Gordy oversees government affairs, publications, communications, and business development, to help advance policy objectives and grow the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association. Hulten served as Champaign County Clerk from 2011-2018, and on the Champaign City Council from 2010-2011.
