7 kwi 2024 · In this series paper we review the current status of Chagas disease in the Americas. We focus primarily on T. cruzi transmission and spread, on the individual and societal burden associated with Chagas disease, and on the strategies used to alleviate such burden.
Our estimates indicate that 288,000 infected persons, including 57,000 Chagas cardiomyopathy patients and 43,000 infected reproductive-age women, currently live in the United States; 22-108 congenital infections occur annually.
