14 lis 2023 · The cervical portion of the spine is an important one anatomically and clinically. It is within this region that the nerves to the arms arise via the brachial plexus, and where the cervical plexus forms providing innervation to the diaphragm among other structures.
The ulnar nerve is formed from roots C8 and T1, it innervates most of the intrinsic muscles of the hand and 2 muscles in the anterior forearm. It provides sensory innervation to the little finger and part of the ring finger, as well as the medial palmar area.

The C8 nerve contributes to the motor innervation of many of the muscles in the trunk and upper limb. Its primary function is the flexion of the fingers, and this is used as the clinical test for C8 integrity, in conjunction with the finger jerk reflex.
