If a title is lost or destroyed, you may obtain a certified copy of title. As part of your vehicle registration you are issued a set of general-issue license plates. Vehicles are required to be titled in the buyer's name within 30 days from the date of sale.

If the title is in your name, or you are the recorded lien holder for the vehicle, you can apply for a certified copy through the TxDMV. If a vehicle has more than one name listed as owner, both owners must apply. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles encourages a Title Check.
Deed Copies. Once a deed has been recorded, copies of the deed may be requested if the original deed has been misplaced. Plain copies and certified copies can be obtained by using the Official Public Records Search and selecting “Property Records” or; by sending an email to: officialpublicrecords@co.cameron.tx.us.
You may view your deed at Williamson County Official Public Records. Our documents are $1 per page, not $2 to $4. You can get copies of your deed from your home computer for free or pay $1 per page to get a copy without the “Unofficial” water mark on it.
