Free spell is Magic jargon for a spell which can be cast without paying mana for it. Free spells usually have an alternative casting cost. The seven one-mana spells and two X-spells which have phyrexian mana costs. Spells from the Masques block which may be cast for free if the controller and an opponent control lands of a certain type.

8 sie 2024 · If you’re casting a spell for free, you can still pay to kick the spell, although you’ll need to pay the mana towards that additional part! Alternative costs are a bit weirder though, as usually the way you’re casting the spell for free is an alternative cost.
