9 sie 2021 · What I'm trying to figure out is if the 4-6 thou piston to wall clearance is excessive for OE Ford pistons, either the forged or cast ones, for a DIY rebuild. That's what I'm getting for measurements and I only plan to hone the cylinders to seat the rings.

23 paź 2021 · My MB M119 engine uses hypereutectic pistons. The MB factory installation piston to wall clearance is: min 0.000157", max 0.001023". I bored and honed to the first oversize. The machine shop insisted the pistons would never fit in the bore and would scuff immediately.
When measuring for piston to wall clearance, measure at widest point of piston skirt 1.300″ from bottom of oil ring groove, 90 degrees from wrist pin hole. Refer to piston kit specification sheet for recommended piston to wall clearances.
7 lut 2018 · if you look at the 4032 piston material instructions chart, just the slight increase in heat from a street towing application moves the recommendation to .0040"-.0050" spec, and there is a note at the bottom of the chart about adjusting for the actual demands of the installed application, altitude, climate, fuel type, tune up, etc.
