In the shadow of the Continental Divide, Caribou Ranch offers a variety of landscapes for you to explore including forests, meadows, wetlands and a historical mining complex. The park is closed annually from April 1 through June 30 to protect spring migratory birds and elk calving and rearing.
The trail starts from Caribou Ranch Open Space Parking and Trailhead. You can enjoy a leisurely hike with little elevation gain on this trail. The trail is well-marked, and aspen leaves on this trail are gorgeous during the fall.
2 lip 2016 · Caribou Ranch Open Space lies just north of Nederland and near the Mud Lake Open Space. Caribou Ranch does not open until July so as not to disturb the calving and birthing of the wildlife. It is well worth the wait to see it (and you can always go to Mud Lake in June).
