The Capitol is the building that houses the United States Congress, made up of the House of Representatives and the House of the Senate. Over the years the Capitol has become a symbol of freedom and democracy for the country.
Buildings & Grounds. The campus consists of the U.S. Capitol building and visitor center, principal congressional office buildings, Library of Congress buildings, Supreme Court buildings, U.S. Botanic Garden and 570 acres of grounds.
Maps & Floor Plans. The Library of Congress occupies three buildings on Capitol Hill. The buildings are remarkable public spaces and public works of art. Each is named after a President of the United States who has a strong connection with the creation of Congress’s library.

As the focal point of the government's Legislative Branch, the U.S. Capitol is the centerpiece of the Capitol Campus, which includes the principal Congressional office buildings and three Library of Congress buildings constructed on Capitol Hill in the 19th and 20th centuries.
