Personally, I would go with the RP over the R if your main use is stills photography. Certainly, the R is a nicer camera, but with how cheap you can get an RP right now (especially through canon loyalty program), I think the RP just makes more sense.

This difference might be important depending on your genre of photography, but, again, not all photographers will care.
