Heart Clinics with OFA Certification. Heart Clinics are screening evaluations used to determine if dogs have congenital heart disease (a heart condition they are born with). But many people also use them to screen for acquired heart disease in certain breeds (a heart condition developed over time).

OFA THYROID: This certification is accomplished by sending a blood sample to an approved laboratory that tests the dog for hypothyroidism, most commonly caused by autoimmune thyroiditis. The onset of the disease is variable, most commonly at 2-5 years of age.
