Surgery alone (without neoadjuvant treatment) should be recommended as the primary treatment approach for cT2N0 oesophageal cancer [II, B]. For patients unable or unwilling to undergo surgery, combined CRT is superior to RT alone [II, A].
Randomised data with biologically targeted medical therapies are limited in oesophageal carcinoma. For treating patients with HER2-positive tumours, the recommendations of the gastric cancer guideline should be followed.
