To those who have built a gaming table with TV - what did you use to protect the screen and where did you put it? A couple of options for materials: Acrylic: -Shiny; + less scratches than Polycarbonate; +more stiff than poly; -less than glass.
Plexi to be avoided but shuld one go with plastic than acrylic or polycarbonate have been suggested. I've used acrylic for gaming before and it scratches fairly easy as well. I used an older tv and built it into a table for gaming, with plexiglass as covering.

Measure the screen and get a sheet of 3mm (1/8") clear acrylic, cut to exact size minus 1mm in each direction, just enough that you can get a fingernail under it to get it out again. Acrylic cleans very well with naptha (Shellite, lighter fluid); soak a tissue in it and rub the acrylic.
