Unarmed security by definition cannot be armed. Most security companies specifically state that you cannot be armed while on duty. If they wanted armed security, the employer would have hired you as such. If the employees want to carry personal firearms, they can't do so while on unarmed duty. It's the choice they make when accepting the job.

This is for liability reasons because if you use them you might get sued and if not certified you'll lose. Also CA is very strict about what you can carry. You need your guard card and a baton card to buy and carry a baton.
