You're looking at the Caldor fire, which broke out just south of Grizzly Flats, California and burned from August 15 to October 6, 2021. With upwards of two dozen Earth-observing satellites, detecting and tracking fires is an important part of NASA's purview.
The Caldor Fire was a large wildfire that burned 221,835 acres (89,773 hectares) in the Eldorado National Forest and other areas of the Sierra Nevada in El Dorado, Amador, and Alpine County, California, in the United States during the 2021 California wildfire season. [2]
