1 lut 2024 · Calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fracture, an extra-articular injury, is a rare fracture caused internally by Achilles tendon driven following intense contraction of gastrocnemius-soleus complex, and externally by low-energy (possibly high-energy).
We presented a new technique for the treatment of avulsion fractures of the calcaneal tuberosity, which is fixed with a 180-degree microplate. We aim to provide a simple, safe, and strong internal fixation technique for avulsion fractures of the calcaneal tuberosity as one of the treatment options.
Calcaneal tuberosity fractures showed significantly higher rate of revision surgery and failure of fixation compared with tongue-type fractures.
Avulsion tuberosity fracture of the calcaneus is relatively unusual and occurs more frequently in elderly osteoporotic patients. Direct trauma to the heel is a rare cause in young individuals.
1 mar 2022 · Calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fractures have a high prevalence of soft tissue compromise and warrant early attention. This condition should be treated as both a bony and soft tissue injury rather than just a bony fracture alone.
23 paź 2015 · In this article, we will show the characteristic appearance and location of these fractures, discuss the mechanisms responsible for these injuries, and illustrate potential pitfalls to consider. The calcaneus is a relatively long tarsal bone that has the shape of a pistol grip (Fig. 1).
