This article lists the airlift squadrons of the United States Air Force. The purpose of an airlift squadron is to organize and effect the delivery of supplies or personnel, usually via military transport aircraft such as the C-17 Globemaster III and C-130 Hercules.
The Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. The C-130J is a comprehensive update of the Lockheed C-130 Hercules, with new engines, flight deck, and other systems. The C-130J is the newest version of the C-130 Hercules, and the only model currently in production.
Started with the C-130B in 1980, converted to C-130E in 1989 and C-130J in 1999. Replaced C-130J with C-27J Spartan in 2011.
