Canada has introduced a new entry requirement, known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), for certain international travellers who fly to Canada. Read about the changes and how they may affect you.
The FARs require pilots to file and activate a flight plan for all flights crossing the U.S. – Canada border, including flights “with no landing” (Ref: FAR 91.707). Pilots must: communicate with air traffic services when they cross the border; squawk an assigned discrete transponder code
The following travellers need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to board their flight to Canada. However, these travellers do not need an eTA if entering by land or sea – for instance driving from the U.S. or coming by bus, train, or boat, including cruise ship.
