14 cze 2024 · Taper the patient's current around-the-clock opioids for up to 7 days to no more than 30 mg of morphine or equivalent per day before beginning treatment with BUTRANS. Then initiate treatment with BUTRANS 10 mcg/hour at the next dosing interval (see Table 1 below, right column).
Butrans skin patches contain buprenorphine, an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Butrans skin patches are used for around-the-clock treatment of moderate to severe chronic pain that is not controlled by other medicines. Butrans is not for use on an as-needed basis for pain.
Use buprenorphine patches exactly as directed. Do not apply more patches, apply the patches more often, or use the patches in a different way than prescribed by your doctor. While using buprenorphine patches, discuss with your health care provider your pain treatment goals, length of treatment, and other ways to manage your pain.
