First Class requirement 6a makes it mandatory for scouts to complete the BSA swim test so that they can finish the aquatics portion of their training and rank up. Camps are the most convenient way to fulfill this requirement.
1a. Since joining Scouts BSA, participate in 10 separate troop/patrol activi-ties, at least six of which must be held outdoors. Of the outdoor activities, at least three must include overnight camping. These activities do not include troop or patrol meetings.
