22 sty 2015 · #1. Hello again AudioKarma! This week, our music source at TARA Labs was in the form of a Bryston BCD-1. While fairly entry-level, this CD player definitely surpassed my expectations. The music was clean and transparent, with focused and engaging dynamics. However, I was a bit confused when I realized it did not support SACD format.
I found myself grabbing CDs I hadn't listened to in a while just to hear how they sounded through the Bryston BCD-1. Comparison. I did a round-robin comparison that incorporated my NAD C542 CD player ($500), the DAC onboard the Bryston B100DA SST (a $1000 option) and the Blue Circle SBD DAC ($1895).
10 cze 2011 · If you still like the sound of the Bryston you have the option of acquiring a used BDA-1 which has dual Crystal dac chips in it over the single chip in the BCD-1. When I had a BDA-1 I thought it sounded better than my friend's BCD-1.
I found the CD37 in comparison to the Bryston quite unimpressive. The BCD-1 had timing, weight and a sense of foundation to the music that made the CD37 sound quite unrealistic in comparison. There was scale and dynamics to the BCD-1 that the CD37 just didn't recreate.
22 sty 2015 · Ultimately, Bryston could not match the quality of a CD-dedicated system. However, the quality of the CD playback is excellent. I respect Bryston for not sacrificing quality for features. Anyone out there using Bryston products they recommend?
