LIHWAP has expanded and now offers assistance to help eligible households with the financial burden of their water and wastewater bills. The program assists eligible households that: Recipients who applied for LIHWAP before October 1, 2022, may be eligible for a second crisis benefit, up to $2000, to pay their past-due water bill.
A public water system is a system for the provision to the public of water for human consumption through pipes or other constructed conveyances, if such system has at least 15 service connections or regularly serves an average of at least 25 individuals daily at least 60 days out of the year.
