19 kwi 2018 · The people that had encounters with angels in the Old Testament and the Book of Mormon did not record the names of the angels that were communicating with them. But that did not matter. What mattered is that they were messengers from God, sent to tell them something important.
There are two kinds of beings in heaven who are called angels: those who are spirits and those who have bodies of flesh and bone. There are many references in scripture to the work of angels. Sometimes angels speak with a voice of thunder as they deliver God’s messages ( Mosiah 27:11–16 ).

The Reality of Angels. The Book of Mormon testifies of the authenticity and purpose of angels (see Alma 13:22–26; 32:23; 3 Nephi 17:24; Moroni 7:29–31; D&C 20:10). In reference to the reality of angels, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said:
Angels are mentioned in the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price and are prominent in the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This word primarily means “messenger.” The Old Testament does not present a unified doctrine of angels, and many distinctive doctrines about angels found in modern revelation are not explicitly taught in the Old Testament.
