A Book of knowledge was a possible reward from the random event gift. It gave you experience equivalent to your level in a skill times 15. Compared with a normal random event lamp , which only gave the experience equal to the level times 10, the book of knowledge provided 50% more experience.
Don't know what to use book of knowledge on. Im f2p fairly new and thinking of becoming a member. You’ll get them periodically throughout the game so it’s not that big of a deal what you spend it on this time around. I would use it on mining tho, just cause it’s your highest level and you get 15x.

Book of knowledge should go on your highest or higher skills because it grants more than using on a skill which is level 1. It's percentage based not like a lamp where you get fixed XP regardless of level.
