A book of knowledge is the reward from Surprise Exam random events. Reading it grants experience equivalent to 15 times the level of the selected skill, 50% more than a genie lamp's 10 times multiplier.
Don't know what to use book of knowledge on. Im f2p fairly new and thinking of becoming a member. You’ll get them periodically throughout the game so it’s not that big of a deal what you spend it on this time around. I would use it on mining tho, just cause it’s your highest level and you get 15x.
Book of knowledge should go on your highest or higher skills because it grants more than using on a skill which is level 1. It's percentage based not like a lamp where you get fixed XP regardless of level.

Getting one of these books isn't a big deal, usually the exp you get from one is almost negligible. You could probably gain it 5 minutes.
