Body language is an important form of nonverbal communication that conveys messages through gestures, posture, facial expressions, eye contact and other physical behaviors. Over half of communication is nonverbal. Body language can reveal feelings, attitudes and intentions even when not consciously expressed.
Body language, eye contact, hand gestures, posture, and voice loudness are all examples of non-verbal communication. It is common to express feelings, attitudes, and intentions nonverbally. It can be used to express feelings that are difficult to put into words or to support verbal communication.
Facial expressions, eye contact, and other body language cues provide additional context during interactions and communicate feelings and attitudes. Body language conveys a significant amount of nonverbal communication.
Body language plays an important role in how others perceive you. Maintaining eye contact, sitting up straight, using hand gestures appropriately, avoiding touching your face, smiling, and staying in one spot can help make a positive impression. Mirroring another person's body language can also help build rapport.
