11 lut 2010 · The precisely milled A2 blades are an 1/8-in.-thick, ground to a 25° bevel, and a 12° bed angle. The plane’s most notable feature is their heft (2 lb.) which could reduce chatter and boost performance during smoothing tasks, but it also makes rounding edges and other typical uses more tiring.
The 9-1/2, with its slightly higher angle lifting the back of the blade and cap iron, can stretch the smallest of hands a bit more than the 60-1/2. The adjustable mouth on these planes allows you to easily bring the throat in tight when working to remove extremely thin shavings, supporting the wood to prevent tear out.
12-138. No. 9-1/2 SweetHeart™ Block Plane. Iron is made from extra-thick 1/8" (3.18 mm) A2 steel for excellent edge retention. Precision-ground ductile cast iron base for accuracy.
The Record 09 1/2 is one of the top of the range block planes from the Record block plane list. The reason for this status is due to having an adjustable blade and the desirable feature for cabinet makers of having an adjustable mouth.
4 paź 2019 · The No 9-1/2 and 60-1/2 represent the fully kitted, adjustable block planes in both 20 and 12 degrees. Most others are derived from them, some by the material finish (plated), some by omitting some features (throat adj., Lateral adj.) and various Lever cap design.
