Each school receives a National Blue Ribbon School flag and plaque at a lively awards luncheon. At the ceremony, school representatives and supporters have an opportunity to network, share ideas, and converse with USDE officials about excellence in education.
Ideas from previous awardees include a NBRS-themed mural, a photo collage of the NBRS ceremony, planting blue flowers, taking a photo of a mass of students in blue t-shirts with the NBRS flag, posting blue ribbons on the schoolgrounds, posting a message on the school marquee, and displaying an oversized banner in the front of the school.
