The Argonians thrive in the foreboding swamps of Black Marsh, a lush and threatening land teeming with poisonous plants and violent predators. The region's tropical climate lends its plants the capacity to overturn all attempts to cultivate them.
Black Marsh, also known as Argonia, [1] is one of the nine provinces of Tamriel. It is the home of the Argonians, the reptilian natives of this swampland rainforest. The province is filled with "great inland waterways and impenetrable swamps." [2] .

During the Oblivion Crisis the Hist recalled lots of Argonians from outside of Black Marsh and gave all of the Argonians Hist sap to make them far more physically powerful. This combined with the Hist assuming direct control of all the Argonians warriors allowed the Argonians to act as one mind.
