Black Maple Hill has a wonderful, trusting nose on it. The big orange citrus opening welcomes all. Hints of corn and honey develop as more air mixes with the bourbon. Traces of oak and spice hide in the background. Deliciously sweet aroma.

The Test: Oregon Black Maple Hill Bourbon is much more intense than its Stein-branded brother, with significant barrel character. A chocolatey nose reminds me of unsweetened cocoa powder and stout beer.
13 kwi 2016 · Black Maple Hill 21 Years has an aroma that’s powerful yet graceful like a gorilla ballerina; a palate that’s a tornado of dark rich fruits, woods and sweets dancing with a summer breeze of lighter brighter notes and a finish that’s like the tail end of a good conversation.
15 sty 2021 · FINAL THOUGHTS: The new release of Black Maple Hills (Purple Label) was highly disappointing. I think that CVI tried their best to capture the elusiveness of their original Black Maple Hills without sourcing older aged bourbon from Kentucky. This whiskey just doesn't cut it for the price it demands.

7 maj 2012 · Aged in American white oak and bottled at a hefty 47.5% ABV (95 proof), Black Maple Hill is a vatting of vintages in a “small batch” from KBD (Kentucky Bourbon Distillers), a group owned by the storied Willet family which doesn’t (yet!) distill any of its own product, but rather sources it from (several) other distillers in Kentucky.
4 gru 2009 · Black Maple Hill is a small batch distillery producing this simple spirit, with no age statement. The bourbon is extremely citrus in character, with big orange notes and nose leading into some wood tones. The finish is silky and sweet, but not too much so.
