22 sty 2020 · Start with a compressor with a fast attack and fast release to smooth out peaks and tame transients, followed by a slower, more gentle compressor to make tracks sound bigger and fatter. The most important thing to remember when setting the attack and release times on a compressor is to know what you’re trying to accomplish.
Set both attack and release to the fastest, ratio to highest, and adjust the threshold so you’re getting at least 4db of gain reduction. Slowly increase the attack time while listening to the transient of the snare. You should hear a very obvious point at which the snare comes back to life.
3 lis 2015 · Add a VCA compressor and experiment with different fairly fast attack times, a fairly fast release, a moderate ratio and a high threshold. 4: It can be useful to try a couple of different compressors with similar settings.
Attack and release: Set the attack and release times to achieve a natural and transparent sound. A fast attack and release time is often a good starting point then adjust based on what works best for the music.
20 sty 2022 · In this blog post, Major Mixing – Online Mixing and Mastering Service will discuss how to set compressor attack and release times. We’ll go over what they are, why you need them, and some best practices for setting them.
In such a case you might want to have a fast attack time to catch and compress the snare hit, but you wanted to let the snare sound decay naturally after that. Then you’d set it for a fast (short) release time so that the compressor stops compressing shortly after the transient has passed.
Attack and release times. Release is easier than attack, in my opinion. Release tends to start from 50ms for very aggressive compression to maybe a second for very smooth action.
