18 maj 2024 · Survivorship free of aseptic revision was 97.4% and survivorship free of any revision was 96.0% at 15 years. Revisions included 3 periprosthetic joint infections, 2 for elevated metal ions and symptomatic pseudotumor, 2 for aseptic femoral loosening, and 1 for unexplained pain.
Complications such as heart attack, stroke or death can occur after hip replacement as with other forms of major surgery. These complications are rare and the anaesthetist will not allow the operation to proceed if it is felt that the risks are significantly higher than normal.

We present our current analysis and tests on a series of different BHR-retrieved prostheses after premature failure.
31 mar 2015 · Failure of femoral components due to aseptic loosening and varus collapse was seen in eight patients after a mean 9.6 years. Metal allergy was seen in three patients (five hips), all of them were female of which two had bilateral resurfacing.
The purpose of this study is to report on the midterm outcomes of BHR in patients 55 years and younger, and specifically to examine the risk factors for aseptic failure, all-cause revision, and complications in this patient population.
