In 2017, the Cottage was renovated to serve as the home of the Park Ridge Historical Society and will henceforth be known as the The Park Ridge History Center. It accommodates exhibits, both permanent and temporary, that illustrate the breadth of our community’s history.
Over the next decades, as Park Ridge established its identity as a residential community, its leaders sought to develop the look of a traditional New England town, with large homes on wide lots and a profusion of trees.

Park Ridge traces its history as far back as the Pottawotamie Indians, who lived in this area that provided fertile land and rich natural resources. The area was a convenient portage between the Des Plaines and Chicago rivers for the French explorers and in the early 1830s our first settlers arrived from New England and New York.
