When sanding primed PLA I've noticed that in my case the fan was strong enough to pull the dust into the filter. Wet sanding also prevents dust getting into the air. For working with resins - you should use a mask with an organic gas and vapour cartridge.

27 mar 2012 · Sanding, a good dust mask, or preferably a HEPA mask with filters. For curing, I'm not sure there's any problem with fumes as long as you have decent ventilation. If you don't, just get a face mask with switchable filters and get the standard chemical filters for it.
I don’t believe you’ll need a respirator. The answer to the question whether you want dust in your lungs is always no, no matter the dust. Like said above you need it always. If you choose wet sandpaper, there will be no dust as it is trapped in the water, so a mask won't be needed.
