Having played with both thorium and calamity, I have to recommend thorium more for multiplayer. It's based closer to multiplayer and is multiplayer supporter, unlike calamity which has some mp balance features, but no true support.
For content mods the best by far is thorium, it's basically made for multiplayer, even adding 2 new classes one of them being purely MP focused while the other is better when played in MP.
