I quickly realized my 30-year-old, 3 1/2 quart crock pot wasn’t going to be large enough to hold a roast for 10 dinner guests.

5 kwi 2012 · Ingredients: 1 (3lb) boneless chuck roast (I have gone to 4 pounds with no problems) 1 Tablespoon Paula Deen's House Seasoning, Revamped. 1/4 cup vegetable oil. 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced. 3 bay leaves. 3 beef bouillon cubes, crushed (I throw mine in whole and have never had any issues) 1 teaspoon jarred garlic.
Instructions. Sprinkle roast with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add roast, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side or until browned. Place roast in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. Arrange carrots, celery, onion, and garlic around roast. Top with thyme. In same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
